The opportunity to volunteer in the field of paleontology on the west coast of Portugal, promoting paleontological and geological heritage. The project is focused on the study of dinosaur fossils from the Jurassic period. Volunteers will participate in a variety of tasks, including: Fieldwork: Search for and excavate dinosaur fossils, working alongside experienced paleontologists. Laboratory work: Prepare fossils for study and research, learning about their anatomy and taphonomy. Educational work: Give talks and tours to the public about the project and its findings, sharing your passion for paleontology and promoting the importance of paleontological and geological heritage. In addition to gaining valuable hands-on experience in paleontology, volunteers will also have the opportunity to: Learn about Portuguese culture and language, immersing themselves in a new and vibrant environment. Meet other young people from all over Europe, forming lasting friendships.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
All expenses are covered. Accommodation will be in the flat for 4 people. Shared room for each 2 volunteers. On the other way volunteers will have another place to spend their days and to sleepover for weekends or anytime they want in our facilities in the Santa Cruz. Food allowance will be paid monthly and volunteers will cook for themselves. Additionaly there will be pocket money will be paid monthly. Local transport for activities will be provided. For weekend trips organization will help to guide volunteers to go Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais etc for a trip.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Geoheritage training by Geopark Oeste. Geographic Information Systems applications training given by host organization. QGIS and PostgreSQL platforms. EU Youthpass training.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
We are looking for Turkish green passport holders who are eager to learn about the history of Earth and fossils, preferably Geology students with prior experience in the fieldwork. Nature lovers and motivated individuals to be participate in Earth Science activities are also welcome. Easy going for fieldworks, excavation, digging dinosaurs in the west coast of Portugal cliffs. Socially strong characters are preferred. Not eligible for Arabian participants who has residents in Turkiye.
