Macaristan 2 Hafta ESC Gönüllü Hizmeti

Come and join us for an unforgettable 2 weeks from 11 to 24 July at Szeglet in Budapest, Hungary!

At the Salva Vita Foundation volunteer camp, you will have the opportunity to be part of a community of young people aged 18-30 with disabilities, special needs and non-disabled youngsters.

What can you expect at the camp?

You can spend your weekdays beautifying Szeglet and its surroundings, discovering yourself, spending valuable time with your peers and gaining work experience. The number of participants is limited to 23 (17 Hungarians and 6 foreigners), so the community works as a small, cohesive team.

Our programme is organised with the support of the European Union in the framework of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC)

Participation is completely free of charge, and you will even get food and pocket money if you actively participate every day. Accommodation and travel will be provided for participants from abroad.

FAQ:
  • How much is your pocket money?

6 euros/day, which you get if you are really present and active

  • I don’t speak good English!

No problem, we need a way to communicate, but we do not expect good English. If you think you can get around with your level of English/Hungarian do not hesitate to apply!

  • I have a disability/special need.

No problem, we can discuss together what you need. The venue is barrier-free and the Salva Vita Foundation has 30 years of experience in providing support.

  • I am 17 years old, can I go?

No, unfortunately we can only accept those who are between 18-30 years old on the first day of the camp.

  • I can’t work 8 hours.

No problem, there are parts of each day that are not work but talking and getting to know each other. Be honest and open about your abilities.

  • I’m afraid I’m not skilled enough to volunteer well.

Tasks are divided according to individual skills and knowledge. Everyone can be assigned an activity according to his or her individual ability.

  • 23 people is a lot, I don’t like being in such a big group.

The work will be done in small groups. Each team will have a different daily task. Small teams of up to 2 people are possible if required. That is, not everyone has to be together all the time.

  • I don’t live with a disability, I am afraid of what will happen there.

Understandably, many people do not meet people with disabilities on a daily basis and therefore may have insecurities or fears. If someone has a fear of being around young people with special needs, it is important to understand that these fears often stem from the unknown or misconceptions. With information and experience, it is easier to accept and understand those who are different from others. Also, you won’t be alone, because we welcome a wide range of young people and everyone is sure to find someone with whom they can find a common ground.

  • From when – how long a day.

Generally speaking we will be together from about 10.00 am to 18.00 pm, but there will be variations between days. Certainly not later.
